How does a split system air conditioner work?
A split system air conditioning system uses two units:
- An indoor air handling unit
- An outdoor compressor unit
These are connected through copper piping that contains a refrigerant, which moves heat from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit — where it’s released. Many people don’t realise that air conditioners actually remove heat from the air rather than “adding cold”. Run in reverse (reverse cycle), the same process heats your rooms in winter.

How much does it cost to supply and install a split system in Brisbane?
It depends on the unit’s capacity and the complexity of the install. A straightforward back-to-back installation (indoor and outdoor unit on either side of the same wall) is the most economical; long pipe runs, double-storey installs and multi-head systems cost more. We quote the full supplied-and-installed price up front.
How long does installation take?
A standard back-to-back single split system is usually installed in half a day. Multi-head systems or complex runs can take a full day or more.
Should I get one multi-head system or several single splits?
Several singles are often cheaper and give redundancy (one failure doesn’t take out every room). A multi-head is better when outdoor space is tight or you want one tidy outdoor unit. We’ll price both options if you’re unsure.
What’s the best split system brand?
We install Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu and ActronAir because they lead on reliability and support in Australia. For most homes we recommend Mitsubishi Electric — it’s the brand we’d put in our own houses — but the best choice depends on your rooms and budget.
Do you install on the Brisbane Northside?

Is reverse cycle worth it over cooling-only?
